GO Wild is quickly approaching. If you're anything like me, you're both rearing to GO & worried about if you have everything you need. As a GO Wild OG getting ready for a 4-peat in Vegas, I have made my fair share of mistakes in the overpacking department.
In this post you will find some harsh realities about what you absolutely do not need to pack for the annual Wild for Planners GO Wild conference as well as some must haves that need to make it into your bag.
1. DO NOT pack a small duffle or carry-on for swag.
You've heard the rumors. You've seen the pictures. You might be thinking, "Do I REALLY need to lug a whole separate empty suitcase across the country just for swag?" YES. This is a non-negotiable. Don't be the girl buying an overpriced duffle at the airport, furiously stuffing things into your suitcase and praying you don't go over the 50lb limit (because you will). Buy an extra. Now. Go to Amazon. I'll wait.
2. DO NOT pack multiple outfit options per day. The temptation here is real & this is my biggest weakness. I don't know how I will be feeling that day, what the weather will be like, or will look the best on any given day. Referring back to #1: you will need all the space you can get! We are all planners. Check the weather for GO weekend religiously, choose the outfits that make you feel good & stick to those. Go Wild isn't about what you're wearing, it's about who you're with. We're going to love you in any outfit you choose! 3. DO NOT have 4 flat irons in your room. Coordinate with your roomies. If you're comfortable, share a flat iron! Having 3-4 plugged in at once is hot, cramped, & just plain unneccesary. With four people sharing a room the "getting ready" space is already limited. Make it easy on yourselves! Another thing you can coordinate on is shampoo & conditioner. Again, only if you're comfortable. This will save space in both your room AND your suitcases! 4. DO NOT pack your entire planning stash.
I REPEAT. DO NOT pack your entire planning stash. I know, I know. It's a planner conference! Won't we have time to plan?
NOPE! You are going to be out & about mingling, karaoke-ing, & swimming in the amazing Vegas pools to have time to really plan. PLEASE bring your planner, though, so we can all touch, squish, & be inspired by your pretty pages! 5. DO NOT depend on your regular phone charger for charging on the go.
"I'll just plug into a wall somewhere. It will be fine."
Honey, there's going to be 1300+ llamas roaming the halls. Do you really want to miss out on shenanigans because you're tethered to a wall charging up your space phone? Do yourself a favor & grab a couple portable chargers. They don't have to be fancy! I have two that I bought from 5 Below for the first GO Wild for a grand total of a whopping $10. For me, two are neccesary. I'm Instagramming all day as well as keeping up in the group & in the app. I refuse to have my phone die when I've lost my friends with no way to call an Uber while on the Strip!
